September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair set to be the biggest ever

News Release

The 2009 September Hong Kong Jewelllery & Gem Fair is set to be the biggest ever in its 27-year history. Current bookings show that it could be 25% bigger than last year, both because existing exhibitors have reserved bigger exhibition stands, making use of the new halls, and many new selected exhibitors are joining the Fair, now that it has the space to accommodate them. Particularly during the current challenging business conditions, the world's jewellery trade wants a premier global meetingplace and clearly the industry has chosen the September fair to be that place. The new sectorisation by product into the two venues, so that loose diamonds, gems, and pearls are in AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and finished fine jewellery exhibitors are in the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), has been successful. The Fair will be, without doubt, the most important jewellery exhibition for the trade in 2009.

AsiaWorld-Expo (raw materials)

The exhibition space expands from four halls to over six halls of AsiaWorld-Expo. The scale is up 50 percent compared to 2008.

Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (finished fine jewellery)

In 2008, the Fair occupied all the main exhibition halls, concourses, atriums and main meeting rooms of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre and spanned over 60,000 square metres of exhibition space. In 2009, the Fair will also occupy the expanded part of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, boosting the exhibition space of the September Fair to 75,000 square metres.

Highlights of the Fair:
-Hong Kong Premier Pavilion
This year the Fair will unveil the Hong Kong Premier Pavilion at Halls 1D & 1E of the HKCEC, where 40 of Hong Kong’s leading jewellery firms will present the glamour and splendour of branded jewellery, the quintessence of craftsmanship, and the excitement of exquisite designs in deluxe surroundings.
-The biggest-ever Diamond Pavilion in Asia
Located at AWE, the Diamond Pavilion will consist of 350 exhibitors showcasing fine cut and polished diamonds, occupying over 15,000 square metres. It will be the biggest diamond pavilion in Asia.
-Fine Gem Pavilion
Fine Gem Pavilion is a new pavilion in the September Fair located at AWE. It will house the world’s finest gemstones, diamonds and pearls, of the highest quality and value only, from carefully selected companies from around the world.
-International Premier Pavilion
The International Premier Pavilion is another new feature of the September Fair located at the HKCEC. More than 30 exhibitors from around the world will assemble at this pavilion, presenting jewellery of superb designs and distinguished craftsmanship that fully convey their respective cultural styles and characteristics.
-The biggest-ever Thailand Pavilion
Thailand is one of the world’s biggest manufacturers and traders of both gemstones and jewellery. This year’s Fair will feature the largest Thailand pavilions ever organised in both venues.

With 2009 looking yet again to be a very challenging year for business, the jewellery trade is no exception. Despite the tough conditions, CMP Asia is undertaking the biggest ever global visitor promotion, aiming to position the September Fair as the must-attend exhibition of the year for both exhibitors and buyers.
